Pilates was designed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates, it is a system of exercises intended to strengthen mind and body, improves flexibility, strength and develops control and endurance. Pilates emphasises alignment and breathing. Pilates machines are used to assist and support movement. Pilates matwork classes do not utilise machines, both are supervised by qualified teachers. Exercise using Pilates equipment is a great way to tailor load and movement to gradually improve resistance and function. It's such a great rehab tool we use it lots in our strength and conditioning classes in the gym. So even during our everyday strength and conditioning you have access to high level, custom built Pilates trapeze reformer and Wonder Chair.
